2 men arraigned for alleged impersonation, assault

Two men have been arraigned at an Ado-Ekiti magistrate court, Ekiti State, for alleged impersonation and assault. The two men, Abdullahi Kabiru, 39, and Tunde Obaro, 28, are facing a two-count charge in the court. The police prosecutor, Inspector Oriyomi Akinwale, told the court yesterday that Kabiru and Obaro committed the offence on May 31, 2020 at about 5.30pm in Omuo-Ekiti. Akinwale alleged that the defendants impersonated soldiers of the Nigerian Army and also unlawfully assaulted a police constable, Awoniyi Lawrence. He asked the court for an adjournment to enable him study the case file and present his witnesses. Their counsel, Mr Timi Omotosho, urged the court to grant his clients bail, with a promise they would not jump bail. The magistrate, Mr Bankole Oluwasanmi, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N30,000, with one surety each in like sum and adjourned the case until July 1, 2020 for hearing.
