Cup

The 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) has kicked off, with Ivory Coast staging the finals for the second time.

The hosts got off to the perfect start, beating Guinea-Bissau 2-0 at the Alassane Ouattara Stadium in the opening match in Abidjan.

The BBC is showing 10 games live in the UK during the finals, while the World Football at Afcon will publish round-up podcasts after every matchday.

Record seven-time champions Egypt are also in action on the opening weekend, facing Mozambique in Group B, while holders Senegal begin the defence of their title against The Gambia in Group C on Monday.

But when are the other group fixtures? What is the format of the tournament? Where are matches being played and when do they kick off?

BBC Sport Africa provides you with all the information ahead of the 34th edition of Africa’s biggest sporting event.
