Backlash In Ghana As Akufo-Addo Unveils Statue of Himself
President Nana Akufo-Addo’s decision to unveil a statue of himself, as part of a drive to showcase development projects as he prepares to leave office, has sparked a heated debate in the country. Some opposition figures have questioned the need for such a statue when, according to them, key projects remained unfinished.
“The people of the Western Region deserve better than these self-serving displays,” one MP posted on X.
President Akufo-Addo, set to leave office in January after completing two terms, has been visiting various regions of the country as part of a Thank-You tour.
