Chiredzi Man Murder
A Chiredzi man was early this month killed after he forcibly ordered patrons drinking traditional beer at her parent’s homestead to leave.
Police have since confirmed the death of Newman Muyambo (26) of Taringana Village under Chief Gudo in Chiredzi.
According to the police, the now deceased was bludgeoned to death with a log by Before Ndlovu (24) of the same village on July 3 after a daylong of imbibing traditional beer with fellow villagers.
The same evening, Muyambo’s mother (61), told drinkers the traditional brew had run out before asking them to leave but none of the patrons could have none of that and did not make any attempt to leave.
However, an angry Newman armed himself with a whip which he used to drive the patrons out, including Ndlovu.
Ndlovu managed to run away but Newman gave chase. Ndlovu later picked a log that he used to attack Newman several times before he fell down and Ndlovu fled the scene. He was later arrested and has since been remanded in custody facing murder charges.
Flora and her husband Peter Muyambo (88) rushed to the scene to rescue Newman, but found him unconscious and bleeding from the head.
He was rushed to Muteyo Clinic before being referred to St Peters Clinic where he was pronounced dead on arrival and the matter was reported to the police.
