Ghana warns against travel to Covid hotspots

Ghana’s health authorities have warned against non-essential travel to Covid-19 hotspots.

Those planning to travel to countries with high infection rates have been urged to postpone or cancel their trips.

The government mentioned Asia and South America as some of the regions with “alarming rates of infections”.

Health officials at the Kotoka International Airport had noted an increase in travellers testing positive for Covid-19.

The authorities want people arriving from countries with increased coronavirus cases to present themselves for another test three days after arriving.

Ghana, which was the first country to receive Covid-19 jabs in March under the global-sharing Covax scheme, wants to vaccinate 20 million people by the end of the year.
