Stranded giraffes floated to safety in Kenya
Conservationists, government officials, and a local community in Kenya have combined forces to rescue eight giraffes stranded on a shrinking island.
They built a barge to get the animals across to safe land. So far, two of them have been transported.
“What we had hoped to do and we’ve been trying with the community for several weeks is to train the giraffes to go themselves using food as a temptation,” he said of more recent events.
Among those rescued is Asiwa the giraffe who was separated from the rest as the water rose.
