1 min readDean Onwuchekwa is a lance corporal in the Nigerian Army, he was working on an explosives defusing team when a mine laid by Boko Haram blew up in his face.
He sustained significant injuries as a result, including having to have both arms amputated.
He then competed in the Armed Forces para-snow sport event run by the Invictus Games Foundation.
The foundation provides opportunities for members of the armed forces who have sustained serious injuries or illnesses from their service to compete in a variety of sports.
