Sudan: Finance Minister, Egyptian Foreign Minister Discuss Strengthening Economic and Trade Cooperation
Finance Minister Dr. Gebreil Ibrahim discussed with Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Dr. Badr Abdel-Aatty, ways to strengthen cooperation relations and exchange expertise in financial policy between the relevant authorities in the two countries.
The meeting, held in Khartoum on Sunday, discussed ways to enhance economic, trade, and investment cooperation between the two brotherly countries, facilitate the movement of trade, and increase the volume of bilateral trade. The two sides also discussed expanding opportunities for joint cooperation in infrastructure rehabilitation projects, with a focus on roads and transportation and the health sector, in support of Sudan’s early recovery and reconstruction efforts and by drawing on Egyptian expertise in these fields.
For his part, Dr. Abdel-Aatty underscored the importance of Sudan’s participation in the African Business Summit, being organized as part of El-Alamein Business Forum in Africa. He stressed the need to benefit from the platform for economic and investment partnerships among African countries provided by the forum, as well as opportunities to advance economic and investment cooperation between Sudan and Egypt and support development and reconstruction efforts in Sudan.
Dr. Abdel-Aatty also reaffirmed Egypt’s steadfast position in support of Sudan’s unity, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national institutions, and its rejection of any attempts aimed at partitioning the country.
The two sides affirmed their determination to further strengthen the deep-rooted historic relations between the two countries and their brotherly peoples and to continue developing areas of cooperation, particularly in the financial and economic fields.
